During pregnancy, the following precautions and care must be observed.
Diet & Lifestyle:
- Take very little spicy, salty, or sour food.
- Mainly take sweet, tasty, mind-pleasing, light and easily-digestible food. Along with meals, take milk (preferably cow’s milk), mango juice, coconut water, shiro/raab (sweet porridge), and food that is wholesome, sattvic, nutritious and quickly digested.
- Do not fast or skip to a single meal a day.
- Do not eat a large amount at once; eat small portions at frequent intervals.
- Stay away from tea, coffee, and any other addictions.
- Do not take too much val (beans), peas, papdi (flat beans), chori (cowpea), chana (chickpeas), or potato, as these cause gas. Avoid excess spicy, salty, sour, fried or fermented food.
- Do not take curd, refrigerator-cold water, or refrigerated items. Always eat freshly prepared food.
- Take more fruits and milk-based preparations.
- Take rest. Do not lift weights, travel, or exert yourself heavily.
- Wear pure and clean clothes. Stay regularly engaged in worship, prayer and satsang.
- Stay away from noise, quarrels and other loud places.
- Speak well, listen to good things, see good things, and think good thoughts.
- Take any prescribed medicine regularly.
- Do not stay up late at night; practise restraint (sexual moderation). Do not sleep on a hard bed or directly on the floor.
- Stay away from foul-smelling places.
- Do not get angry, worried, or grieve — always remain cheerful.
- Shape your mind according to the kind of child you wish to have, and accordingly keep your reading and reflection (this is the essence of Garbh Sanskar).
- Do not eat stale food. Avoid refined-flour (maida) items such as bread, biscuits, pav (bread rolls), and other bakery products.
- Avoid pickles, and fermented preparations such as khaman, dhokla, handvo, idli, dosa and similar items.
- Stop all sour items — curd, buttermilk, lemon, tomato, tamarind, kokam, etc.
- Avoid baking-soda-based snacks such as gathiya, fafda, khaman, bhajiya and other farsan (fried snacks). Stay away from carbonated soda and cold drinks.
- Stay away from outside/restaurant snacks.
Viruddha Ahar (incompatible food combinations):
Viruddha Ahar (food combinations that are incompatible with each other) is a major cause of disease, so it should be avoided. Any fruit with milk, curd, garlic, onion, radish, jaggery, and any sour item together with milk are all incompatible food combinations. Jaggery or radish taken with curd is also an incompatible combination. Curd increases body weight and causes blockage in the body’s channels (srotas), so it should not be consumed by anyone who is unwell. Take prescribed medicines regularly, without missing even a single day.
For a reliable outcome, you can also get treatment through an in-person or online consultation and order the quality medicines prepared at our clinic.
