I’m a 58 yr old male, 5’8″, 50 kgs. I have prostate enlargement (BPH) and bladder neck hypertrophy.
According to my last few USGs, the prostate size had been between 24 to 27 gms.
Also I also have a strange tightness in my lower abdomen for last 4 yrs which causes constipation.
Due to the above reasons I spend hours in the bathroom. As such I’m not able to professionally work at present.
Since allopathic medicines did not work for me, I consulted a Ayurvedic doctor online. He prescribed me Himplasia,Punarnavadi Kashyam and Trivrit Lehyam. Since taking them I noticed my constipation and micturition both only got worse as days went by. Even Trivrit Lehyam (laxative) did not help. I told my doctor about it but he said it cannot be due to the medicines. After taking them for 2 weeks I have now stopped all 3 of them.
I also found out that Himplasia and Punarnavadi contain “antispasmodics” properties due to presence of herbs like Tikta, Gokshura, Babu and Kulthi.
My questions are –
1. can antispasmodics in the medicines cause constipation and difficult micturition ?
2. Can you please prescribe any alternate medicines for me ?

I have check all the details which you have described in your question.
You have prostate enlargement and bladder neck hypertrophy.
In this condition, Ayurveda medicines work better.
Medicine has to take care as in your condition there are multiple situations is involved so sometimes it has to change if have any discomfort.

Answer 1.
After taking himplasia many patients have the problem with constipation and gastritis. In my practice, the most patient cannot take himplasia due to its effect of discomfort.
In difficult micturition already you have bladder neck hypertrophy and sometimes the effect of himplasia make it more difficult.
Trivrit lehyam is a laxative and antispasmodic but due to himplasia it not works properly.
Answer 2
For better treatment from Ayurveda, you should have to consult offline or online and you will get proper treatment as per your requirement.
Please start the following Medicines and contact after 1 month for further medications and guidance.
1. Punarnava start Gangavathi to tablet price today.
2. Gokshura Ghan vati 2 tablets twice a day.
3. Chandraprabha vati 2 tablets twice a day.
4. Erand bhrista haritaki churna 5 grams at bedtime with warm water for constipation and you can reduce or increase the dose as per your requirement.
Diet :
1. Avoid Fermented and stale food
2. Avoid food from outside selling
3. Avoid Curd, Buttermilk, Lemon all sour and salty food,
4. Avoid Oily and fried food
I advise you to follow Yogasan and Pranayam Procedures for better results…
Yoga and Pranayam treatment
1. Paschimotanasan
2. Chakrashan
3. Sarvangasan
4. Uttanpadasan
5. Pavan muktasana
In Pranayama
1. Bhasrika pranayam
2. Anulom – vilom pranayam
3. Kapalbhanti pranayam
