Kamasutra – The Key to a Happy Married Life

Today, thanks to science, we have gained true knowledge in every field. We use science to understand any subject, but we don’t rely on science to understand “Kama” (sex). We create an aversion toward sex, or out of shame we behave wrongly about it, and that is exactly why most people’s sexual lives appear broken today. Many people suffer from diseases like AIDS, or blindly imitate others when it comes to sexually transmitted diseases. But in truth, “Kama” (sex) is a science — a discipline. Just as other subjects are necessary in life, the study of sexual knowledge should also be gained by every individual. For every young man or woman standing at the threshold of youth, a proper study of this sexual knowledge is essential. This is exactly why, in our culture, the science of sex was included among the 64 arts of knowledge. Not only that, every young man and woman was required to have this essential knowledge before marriage. This is precisely why marriages of the older times appear to have been healthier.

Our effort is simply to correct the misunderstandings prevailing around sexual knowledge and to provide true, scientific knowledge instead. The scientific discoveries made by Sage Vatsyayana in that era, and the excellent gift he gave to human life in the form of the science of sex, remain just as guiding today, and will continue to remain so for centuries to come. Let us bow to the penance of this great sage, try to understand his thoughts, and make our married lives successful. Even today there is debate over whether this sexual knowledge should be given or not — and yet, the understanding and outlook that respectable society had toward this knowledge thousands of years ago is truly an example of the excellent understanding of people from that era. Those whom we call “old-fashioned” and feel an aversion toward — compared to their thinking, we would certainly appear old-fashioned, or even foolish, today.

Anyway, let’s move on. But this knowledge is necessary for everyone, and so, by combining Vatsyayana’s “Kamasutra” with modern science, I am trying today to serve this knowledge to you in the form of different courses.
